He's inspired by the lyrics from a Jeff Buckley song called 'lover, you should've come over' from his album 'Grace'.
Part of the lyrics from the song go:
"My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulders.. All my riches for her smile.. All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter"
And its that last part that inspired me to draw this guy. His arms are wrapped in babred wire and as all his blood pours out in the water he's standing in, he imagines the smiling form of his lover reaching out for him among the stormy nights sky.
Deep stuff, I'd like to think.
Hand drawn and coloured using copic markers and a little white acrylic paint on original A3 sized cartridge paper.
Wow it's great to see it finally finished! Nice concept and well carried off! ^^ One tiny niggle is that the foreshortening on the lady's arm is a little off, but the colouring is fantastic!
Yay- it looks brilliant! (But you already knew that ;D) So good to see it all done - you've outdone yourself on this one ;D
Keep up the great stuff, lovely! ^_^
Do you mean from her elbow back to her shouler? Or the other way, from her elbow down to her hand? .. or perhapse all of it, heh.
Thanks for the comment all the same, and im glad you like the finished version. ^^
Colouring the sky was a bit of a pain in the backside for a while, and i still dont think theyve been blended as well as they could be, but it still looks pretty much the way i wanted it to.
Yes, its done entirely with Copics. Well thats a lie actually, his blood is red ink and the woman in the sky is white paint, but the other 99% of the picture is all Copic work.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community.
